Years ago, a teacher once told me we each have ten thousand bad drawings in us. So, if you have a bad drawing day, don't worry about it, you will have better drawing ahead of you. It seems the 10,000 rule is going around these days. In Malcolm Gladwell's book The Outliers, he speaks of a ten thousand hour rule to achieve Mastery in any given subject. Talent is a function of persistence, not simply a natural born gift; mastery is earned.
And so, I keep picking away at my 10,000 hours of life drawing..
